Certified Child Life Specialists are trained professionals who are experts in dealing with developmental impacts and effects of illness and injury.
The role of a CCLS is to improve overall patient care and satisfaction and to provide family centered care throughout the clinical experience.
This includes infants, children, and youth (ages 0 to 18) who are currently or could confront potentially traumatic events.
CCLS work in both healthcare and community settings and help children and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, death/dying, trauma, disability, and other psychosocial interactions.
